Dress Code for Men:
- Cover Head: Men should cover their heads with a cloth while inside the temple complex. You can bring your own scarf or bandana, or borrow one for free from the many stalls located outside the entrance.
- Knees Covered: Long pants or dhotis (traditional garment) are preferred. Avoid shorts or garments that expose the knees.
- Upper Body Covered: Shirts are ideal. Sleeveless shirts or bare chests are not allowed.
Dress Code for Women:
- Cover Head: Similar to men, women must cover their heads with a scarf or dupatta (long scarf) while inside the temple complex. Borrowing options are available if needed.
- Knees Covered: Long skirts, dresses, or salwar kameez are ideal. Avoid shorts or garments that expose the knees.
- Shoulders Covered: Opt for shirts or blouses with sleeves. Sleeveless tops are not allowed.

- The Golden Temple is located in Atta Mandi, Katra Ahluwalia, Amritsar, Amritsar Cantt, Punjab 143006, India.

- October to March.
Timings:
- Open 24 hours.
Additional Tips:
- Remove Footwear: Remove your shoes and socks before entering the temple complex. Free cloakrooms are available to store your footwear.
- Wash Your Feet: Before entering the holy pool surrounding the Golden Temple, there’s a designated area to wash your feet.
- Respectful Behavior: Maintain silence and avoid loud conversations or disrespectful behavior inside the temple complex.
- Langar (Community Kitchen): Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the langar, the temple’s free community kitchen that serves a simple vegetarian meal to everyone.
- Photography: Photography is allowed around the periphery of the temple complex, but not inside the Golden Temple itself.
