Dress Code for Men:
- Dhoti or Kurta Pyjama: A dhoti, a traditional garment worn around the waist, is preferred. Kurta pyjama is also acceptable.
- Shirt or Angavastra: A shirt can be worn with a dhoti or kurta. You can also wear an angavastra (upper cloth) over your bare chest.
- No T-shirts or Jeans: Avoid wearing jeans or t-shirts inside the temple complex.
Dress Code for Women:
- Saree or Salwar Kameez: A saree is the traditional attire for women. Salwar kameez with a dupatta is also allowed.
- Lehenga or Long Skirt: A lehenga (long skirt with a blouse) or a long skirt (knee-length or longer) paired with a blouse is acceptable.
- No T-shirts or Jeans: Similar to men, avoid wearing jeans or t-shirts.
Location:
- The Ramanathaswamy Temple is situated in Rameshwaram, Pamban Island, Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu, India.
Timings:
- Morning– 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
- Evening– 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Best Time to Visit:
- October to November, weather is pleasant ranging from 20°C to 30°C.
Additional Tips:
- Dress Modestly: Clothes should cover your shoulders and knees.
- Remove Footwear: It’s customary to remove footwear before entering the temple complex.
- Temple Theerthams (Holy Springs): Many devotees take a dip in the 22 theerthams (holy water springs) located within the temple complex. It’s best to carry a change of clothes if you plan to do so, as you won’t be allowed inside the main temple while wet.
- Respectful Behavior: Maintain silence and avoid loud conversations inside the temple.
- Mobile Phones: Mobile phones are not allowed inside the temple complex.
